The Special Needs Holiday Season
For those who have Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Autism and any other disability what do you like to do for the Holidays? What is your favorite Holiday?
My favorite Holiday…. that’s a tough one actually because I think all the Holidays are fun. But if I have to pick just one I would pick Christmas. The reason I love Christmas so much is because I get up early and wake my parents up and then we all go downstairs to open gifts and have our morning coffee. I love singing all the Christmas songs at that time of year and watching the snow fall. It simply is the best time of year! However, how can you have just one favorite Holiday? My other favorite Holiday is my birthday. I absolutely LOVE my birthday because not only is it a day to celebrate your age with friends and family, but who else doesn’t love cake?
The holiday’s can also make you feel lonely. If you don’t have close friends or even someone special, it can make you feel a little left out or like you are missing out on something. You might be having a wonderful time with your family, but having a close friend or someone special can really make every holiday feel that much more special.
